The Kansas City Chiefs got down to 76 players, one shy of the NFL roster limit of 75 players, prior to Tuesday's NFL deadline.

The roster cuts included former Iowa starting quarterback Ricky Stanzi, a former fifth-round draft pick.

“This is always a difficult time of year,” Chiefs general manager John Dorsey said. “We have to make decisions that we feel are in the best interest of our football team and unfortunately this is part of the process. These gentlemen have put in a lot of hard work and effort for our franchise, and we wish them nothing but the best moving forward.”

The Chiefs cut cornerback Vince Agnew, defensive end Miguel Chavis, wide receiver Terrance Copper, offensive lineman Ryan Durand, offensive lineman Hutch Eckerson, defensive back Otha Foster III, offensive lineman A.J. Hawkins, defensive end Rob Lohr, cornerback Kamaal McIlwain, running back Jordan Roberts, wide receiver Tyler Shoemaker, Stanzi, defensive back Neiko Thorpe and fullback Braden Wilson.
