Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Sean Smith is in trouble with the law, charged with driving under the influence and careless driving.
Smith allegedly drove into a light pole Monday in Kansas City.
Smith allegedly seemed confused andw as mumbling, but declined medical attention.
“We are aware of the situation involving Sean Smith," the Chiefs said in a statement. "Whenever one of our players is involved in an incident like this it is disappointing. We will have no further comment at this time as this is an ongoing legal matter.”
The Chiefs had Smith work with the second-team defense today. Smith was signed to a three-year, $16.5 million contract last year.
