The Kansas City Chiefs placed tight end Kevin Boss on injured reserve on Wednesday because of a head injury, the team announced.

Boss could not gain clearance from doctors to return this season, according to the Kansas City Star, after being injured in week two against Buffalo.

The Chiefs signed linebacker Brian Kehl to replace Boss on the 53-man roster.
