The Kansas City Chiefs have signed veteran safety Steve Gregory, according to his agent, David Canter.

Gregory was cut by the Patriots in February.

Over the past two season, Gregory recorded 116 tackles and four interceptions with two forced fumbles in 23 starts.

Sanders Commings had ankle surgery Thursday. And Chiefs star safety Eric Berry suffered a minor ankle injury.

Gregory is set to compete with Husain Abdullah for a starting job.
