The lowly Kansas City Chiefs waived one of their big free-agent acquisitions of the off-season on Monday, releasing cornerback Stanford Routt, per the Kansas City Star.

In his place, the Titans signed journeyman defensive tackle Shaun Smith, who is in his second stint with Kansas City. Smith was in camp with the Tennessee Titans.

Also, head coach Romeo Crennel relinquished the defensive coordinator duties to Gary Gibbs in another move to shake up one of the NFL's most woeful teams.
