The New Orleans Saints have signed restricted free agent running back Chris Ivory, a potential precursor to a trade.

Ivory signed his tender offer today, according to the team. It was rumored that the New York Jets might sign Ivory to an offer sheet before the deadline, which was this afternoon.

Ivory, an undrafted free agent from Tiffin in 2010, had his best season as a rookie when he rushed for 716 yards and five touchdowns. Ivory appeared in five games last season and rushed for 217 yards and two scores. Maybe Ivory will stay put or perhaps the Saints will look to turn him into a draft pick.
