An outspoken proponent of marriage equality, former Vikings punter Chris Kluwe has made it clear that he thinks his former employer released him due to his views on the subject.
"It would obviously be wrongful termination,'' Kluwe told the newspaper. "A direct supervisor made homophobic remarks repeatedly, and it was an atmosphere that was not conducive to a good working environment, and I ended up getting fired from the team despite the fact that my performance (in 2012) had been as good as the previous years.''
Kluwe added that he'd sue for the maximum amount possible and would donate every penny of it to LGBT groups.
Kluwe wrote a column for Deadspin stating that Vikings special teams coordinator Mike Priefer repeatedly made homophobic remarks in his presence. Priefer later denied those allegations.
