Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder was able to practice through a rib injury on Thursday, taking most of the snaps as the first-string quarterback.
This can be construed as a good sign, given the 0-3 Vikings don't want to lose their starting quarterback to injury. But then again, do the Vikings want an injured quarterback that helped contribute to all three losses playing for them?
Based on what Vikings coach Leslie Frazier told reporters after practice, it would appear Ponder is the quarterback Minnesota goes with if he's available.
"We want Christian to play," Frazier said, via ESPN.com. "We want him to get out there and continue to grow and develop as a quarterback."
If Ponder is unavailable to play Sunday, the Vikings will go with Matt Cassel as their quarterback.
