Colts coach Chuck Pagano defended star defensive end Robert Mathis, telling reporters that his character shouldn't be defined by the fact he recently tested positive for a banned substance.
"He’s a horseshoe guy, he’s a pillar guy, and like I said before, we’ve got his back," Pagano said. "Everybody in this organization has his back and we’ll get through this and at the end of the day, we’ll all be better for it.”
The NFL announced on Friday that Mathis will face a four-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing drugs.
Mathis released a statement saying he took a male fertility drug, which triggered the positive test.
