San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback Colt McCoy got hurt badly enough to require a magnetic resonance imaging exam today.
McCoy got hurt against the Denver Broncos during a run in the second quarter Thursday night.
McCoy sustained a stinger in his right neck and shoulder area, according to Comcast Sportsnet Bay Area.
McCoy, who completed 3 of 7 passes for 41 yards and an interception downplayed the severity of the injury.
“These things are always different when you’re dealing with nerves and stingers and stuff,” McCoy said. “You never know.”
