Colt McCoy not convinced he'll get fair shot at Browns' job

Pretty much everyone expects the Cleveland Browns to wind up handing their starting quarterback job to Brandon Weeden.

Maybe Colt McCoy is even in that crowd.

A trade could still happen for McCoy even though the club maintains he will be on an even playing field with Weeden, a first-round draft pick from Oklahoma State that will turn 29 in October.

Does McCoy believe he’ll receive a fair shot to win the job?

We'll see, I don't know,” he told KXAN-TV, according to NFL.com, at the football camp he is running in Austin, Texas. “There are a lot of things I can control and I'm controlling those things. The things beyond that I try to do my best to not worry about those and go out there and do what I do on the field, that's the most important thing. Beyond that, I can't do anything else.”

It’s difficult to conceive the Browns choosing McCoy in this process unless Weeden falls on his face or an unexpected injury occurs. Cleveland hoped to land Robert Griffin III in the draft but when that plan fell apart, the Browns targeted Weeden. He’s now likely to be the man charged with turning the franchise around.
