Colts down to 75 players

The Indianapolis Colts are down to the NFL roster limit of 75 players.

The Colts waived-injured wide receiver Nathan Palmer, placed safety John Boyett on the reserve/non-ootball injury list and moved linebacker Josh McNary to an exempt status on the roster.

If Palmer clears waivers, he will revert to the injured reserve list. McNary’s exemption is under the reserve/military rules where the player reported after June 1, 2013 and has not played in any preseason games.

Palmer was signed by the Colts off the San Francisco 49ers practice squad last year.

Boyett was selected by the Colts in the sixth round. At Oregon, he appeared in 40 games (35 starts) and totaled 278 tackles (182 solo), 30 passes defensed, 10 interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, and a half of a sack.

McNary was signed by the Colts as a free agent on April 11, 2013. At Army, he totaled 195 tackles (117 solo), 49.0 tackles for loss, 28.0 sacks, nine passes defensed, five forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in 46 games played. Following his graduation from West Point, McNary was commissioned as an officer in the Army, which prevented him from being selected in the 2011 draft.
