From Mike Chappell of The Indianapolis Star
APPeyton Manning
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The price tag figures to be staggering when the time comes for the Indianapolis Colts to lock up their Manning in the same manner the New York Giants locked up theirs.
Yet the Colts intend to keep Peyton Manning.
"Our clear intention is to have Peyton finish his career here,' Colts president Bill Polian said as the team prepared for a Wednesday night practice at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. "There is no other thought. At the appropriate time, we'll sit down and talk about it.'
At the latest, that would be shortly after the end of the 2010 season, when Manning's contract expires. It's conceivable Polian and Tom Condon, Manning's agent, will iron out something prior to that.
