Low-risk move might pay off for Schwartz Brad Biggs
Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz was with the Tennessee Titans when they spent a first-round draft pick on Pacman Jones, so it stands to reason to Detroit News columnist Tim Twentyman that Schwartz should make a low-risk gamble with the cornerback.
The Lions, Jaguars, 49ers and Saints were the four teams that checked out Jones on Friday during his workout in New Orleans. The Lions have been bereft at the position for some time and seem set to upgrade their defensive line with the second pick of the draft next month. Taking a flyer on Jones wouldn’t be such a bad move.
If he can’t play, the Lions can cut him. If he doesn’t behave, the Lions can cut him. If he gets in a fight with one of the bodyguards designed to keep him out of trouble, the Lions can cut him.
Jones is 26 and awful close to the point of no return when it comes to the NFL. Twentyman might be on to something here:
“If Schwartz and Co. deem him ready to play, physically, and see him as a good fit for the Lions, then they should pull the trigger. What do have they have to lose? If the Lions offer him a contract, it will undoubtedly include no guaranteed money and will be rich in behavior clauses.
If he gets in trouble, he's gone. If he embarrasses the team, he's gone. If he's cleaned up his act and helps the team, great.
Look, the Lions are in the business of collecting talent after winning a total of two games the last two seasons. If he's in shape and still has his elite speed, he's probably instantly the team's best corner.”
Stay tuned.

Bringing in Jones would be a nightmare for the Lions. They're trying to build a team. Bring in quality veterans, not fools like this rube. He could easily set them back this year if they sign him. I could understand a team with a solid core of veterans rolling the dice on this chump, even though I'd still think it was foolish. But when your trying to build a foundation guys like pacman serve no purpose. Risks are for teams that can afford to take them, and the Lions aren't one of those teams.
Tim Twentyman? Sounds like a male prostitute in downtown Detroit.
The Lions need Pac Punk Jones about as much as Detroit needs Ford, GM, and Chrysler to close their respective doors and move to India.
Pac Punk Jones is a loser. Always was. Always will be.
The only thing Pac Punk Jones deserves is a Chris Henry Finish.
Really, he would set the team back. To what 1 win? Don't be so dramatic T-money. The Lions have only 2 victories in the last two years, they are in a great position to take a chance. You don't think KVB or Julian Peterson could keep Pac Man in line? I trust the Schwartz. If he thinks Pac Man can help this team then sign him.
Raiders and was a standout cornerback during his playing days. His brother Dave used to work for the team too. McCloughan knows Al Davis well and McDonald points out that they spent plenty of time talking together during the joint practices the teams hold during training camp.

He is in shape, check out his 40 time. I say pick him up if he agrees on a 1yr contract.
