Cowboys could flip Tyron Smith to left tackle

Jason Garrett says he's thinking about it Brad Biggs

The Dallas Cowboys will considering flipping their offensive tackles for 2012.

Coach Jason Garrett said he’s already mulling the possibility of shifting Tyron Smith, the team’s first-round draft from this past year, to left tackle. That move would send Doug Free from left to right tackle.

"It's certainly a possibility," Garrett said, according to the Dallas Morning News

The guess here is if Garrett is willing to publicly consider the option right now that he will likely head in that direction. Smith had a strong rookie season and might be better equipped to handle the blind side of quarterback Tony Romo. Dallas didn’t want to place too much pressure on Smith during his first season.

"We feel like they're both physically capable of doing both, so that's the attractive part," Garrett said. "We're trying to make the best fit for our football team and for each of those guys so they can play their best. If we were to do that, we'd try to do it earlier rather than later just to give them enough opportunity to do it and get better at it."

Who cares who the Cowboys "flip"....nothing will matter and they will continue to be losers until someone flips Jerry Jones out of his meddling GM role. Back to your owners box Jerry - and count your money - stay out of the other areas where proper NFL people belong.
