The Dallas Cowboys signed quarterback Caleb Hanie to a one-year contract.
Hanie was with the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens last season.
He was cut by the Ravens during training camp.
He was with the Denver Broncos in 2012.
Hanie started four games for the Chicago Bears in 2011 when Jay Cutler was hurt.
He completed just 51 of 102 pass attempts for 613 yards, three touchdowns and nine interceptions and wasn't retained.
The Cowboys have Hanie and Brandon Weeden under contract and are making contingency plans in case Kyle Orton retires.
