Cowboys to start Zack Martin at guard

Cowboys rookie offensive lineman Zack Martin projects as a long-term offensive tackle in the NFL.

But for at least this upcoming season, Martin will be an offensive guard. With Tyron Smith and Doug Free at the tackle spots, it'll be a little while before Martin competes for a starting spot there.

“People believe he can play center – a lot of people argue he can play all five spots on the offensive line,” said Cowboys coach Jason Garrett, via the team's website. “Initially we’ll give him a chance to work inside as an offensive guard and see how he holds up there.”

Martin was a four-year starting lineman at Notre Dame, helping the Fighting Irish make it to the 2013 BCS Championship game following an undefeated 2012 regular season.
