Cowboys using caution with DeMarco Murray

Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray sat out the team’s first OTA practice on Tuesday with a tweaked hamstring but the issue is not expected to be serious.

Murray has had his share of injuries in two seasons and the club will obviously go carefully with him in the spring. Coach Jason Garrett said he expects Murray back on the field soon “in the next few practices,” according to Rainer Sabin of the Dallas Morning News.

“We don’t want to put any of those guys in a situation where they’re going to take a backwards step,” Garrett said, per the report. “Obviously you want them all out there, going 100 miles an hour. But you have to understand it is May 21, this is OTA 1, and we have a long way to go. So we’ll take a conservative approach.”

Murray missed six games last season with a sprained left foot. A fractured right ankle prematurely ended his rookie season in 2011.
