Crennel comments could bring tampering charge

Romeo Crennel's honesty could potentially cost him a fine and the Kansas City Chiefs a draft pick on the charge of tampering.

Crennel was asked on Saturday at the NFL Combine of the Chiefs potential interest in Peyton Manning, if he became free via the Indianapolis Colts not paying his $28 million roster bonus.

“I'm not supposed to talk about anybody else's players, and he's still a player with Indianapolis, but with a talent like that, I would be crazy not to consider it if he were available. I'll leave it at that,” Crennel said.

Crennel also commented on Chad Henne, who will soon be free from the Miami Dolphins. Henne's former offensive coordinator Brian Daboll now holds that position with the Chiefs.

Last year, the Chiefs were the beneficiary of a tampering charge levied against the Detroit Lions regarding safety Jerrad Page. The teams wound up swapping fifth-round picks because of the incident.
