QB coach may leave after being passed over for coordinator spot. Terry McCormick
Jim Zorn wasn't the guy Romeo Crennel wanted as the new offensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs, but the head coach would like his quarterbacks coach to stay on in his current role.
I hope that Jim stays,” Crennel told the Kansas City Star. “I know that any time you’re interviewed for the coordinator job, you have hopes of getting it, and it didn’t work out for him here at this time. But I told Jim that I wanted him to stay and hoped that he would stay. And I expect him to stay. I don’t know what else might happen for him, but if nothing happens for him, then I expect him to be there.”
There were reports that Zorn might leave the Chiefs if he were passed over for the OC role that eventually went to Brian Daboll. The Chiefs also denied Zorn permission to speak to the Chicago Bears about a position there.
Crennel said Zorn might have other opportunities but indicated that right now he is planning on Zorn being back as the Chiefs quarterbacks coach again next season.
