The New England Patriots have landed free agent tight end Alge Crumpler.
According to the Boston Globe, the AFC East franchise has agreed to terms with Crumpler.
Crumpler, 32, played for the Tennessee Titans for the past two seasons.
The Patriots are extremely thin at tight end, so adding Crumpler was a necessity.
Ben Watson signed with the Cleveland Browns, and Chris Baker was cut from the team.
Crumpler provides a strong blocking presence, caught 27 passes for 222 yards and one touchdown last season and is regarded as a positive locker room presence.
Over the past two seasons, Crumpler has caught 51 passes for 479 yards.

You call this upgrading? Good lord... Was Russ Francis not available?
Pats TE is essentially a 6th Olineman since they decided to play colts football and air it out all the time.

Pats are thin by choice, letting Watson and Baker go. Their plan must have been to upgrade the position all along.
