INDIANAPOLIS -- No running back traversed 40 yards with the raw speed of University of Maryland running back Da'Rel Scott.

He clocked a 4.35 on Sunday at the NFL scoutihng combine.

That’s the best time of any running back, solidifying his reputation as a potential homerun threat.

Scott, who rushed for 708 yards last season, ranked ahead of Auburn running back Mario Fannin (4.38 seconds).

Rushing for 200 yards on 13 carries, Scott was named the Most Valuable Player in the Military Bowl.

Meanwhile, Alabama running back Mark Ingram ran a relatively pedestian 4.62. However, few backs have the former Heisman Trophy winnner's instincts and body lean.

Kentucky running back Derrick Locke and Connecticut running back Jordan Todman ran a 4.4 flat followed by DeMarco Murray (4.41, Oklahoma), Roy Helu (4.42, Nebraska) and Brandon Saine (4.43, Ohio State).

Meanwhile, Oklahoma State running back running back Kendall Hunter and Hawaii running back Alex Green both registered 4.53 times.

And bruising Illinois running back Mike Leshoure ran a 4.56, which was topped by swift Virginia Tech running back Ryan Williams' 4.55.
