Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton committed three turnovers in their playoff loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium.
Dalton was intercepted twice in the second half as the Chargers won, 27-10, to advance to the divisional round to play the top-seeded Denver Broncos. It marked their fifth victory in a row.
Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers had a touchdown and n o interceptions, throwing just 16 passes for 128 yards.
“We will be confident,” Rivers said. “We've got to be careful we're not overconfident, which we won't be. Cincinnati came to our place and won five weeks ago.”
The Bengals had defeated the Chargers, 17-10, in December.
This time, Dalton fumbled and had the two interceptions as the Bengals lost for the first time in nine home games this season.
Dalton is now 0-3 in the playoffs, coach Marvin Lewis is 0-5.
“Whatever you do during the regular season doesn't matter once you get to the playoffs,” Dalton said. “It's disappointing. All the good stuff we did this year, then to come out and not win this game kind of hurts.”
