Coach had two No. 1 overall picks at QB in his career Brad Biggs
The NFL circus left Columbia, Mo., on Thursday after the University of Missouri pro day, but the Carolina Panthers invaded on Friday.
The team took Tigers quarterback Blaine Gabbert to dinner Friday night, and as the National Football Post reported on Wednesday, the team will put him through a private workout today.
The Panthers are doing their due diligence when it comes to the No. 1 pick. Former NFL coach Dan Reeves says it should be a slam dunk.
“If I'm them, I'm taking Cam Newton,” Reeves told Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Observer. "I think that guy is going to be a great player.
“You can't win without one, and trust me, when I lost them, I got fired.”
The former coach of the Denver Broncos, New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons benefitted from two No. 1 overall picks – John Elway and Michael Vick.
“I can teach a guy to get up under center," Reeves said. "But I can't teach a guy to throw. He has a tremendous arm, and I think he's going to be really effective no matter what he was doing in college.
"I mean, how many times do you see Peyton Manning or Tom Brady in the shotgun? A lot."
