Darrelle Revis said what seemed obvious from the outside.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers players weren't too happy with former coach Greg Schiano's style. The disconnect hurt the team's progress on the field and led to Schiano's dismissal following the 2013 season.
“The atmosphere, I felt like, was real tense,” Revis told the Tampa Bay Times. “Guys didn’t like coming to work. That’s one of the things you have to have, a stress-free atmosphere and environment. You’re going to get everything out of everybody if it’s stress-free and let people be who they are."
Revis then said he's optimistic with everything he's heard about new coach Lovie Smith. Even if he's forced to play more in the cover-2 than in press-man coverage, Revis said he'll look to master whatever defense he's asked to do.
“I feel confident in Lovie and [defensive coordinator] Leslie Frazier, too," Revis said. "They have a lot of experience in the league with unbelievable players."
