Dashon Goldson has racked up more than $106,000 in fines

You would think Dashon Goldson would eventually get the message.

But the San Francisco 49ers safety has been fined repeatedly this season for sock and pants violations of the uniform code. The fines total about $70,000 Goldson said, according to Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle.

But those fines are minor compared to the $21,000 fine he received for a helmet-to-helmet hit on New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez last Sunday night. Goldson indicated he would appeal that fine.

I thought it was clean,” Goldson said. “It’s just one of the things, man. The league is going to do what they’re going to do to keep the game clean, but as far as me as a football player, I’ve just got to go out there and play football – make plays for my football team. And I will continue to do that. … I’m not a dirty player.”

Goldson has also picked up two fines for $7,875 earlier this season. He was popped for hitting St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford as he was sliding and for a taunting violation in an October meeting with the Seattle Seahawks.

Add up all the fines and he’s been docked more than $106,000 this season – the bulk of it for uniform violations. How smart is that?
