If you think that 43-8 Super Bowl thrashing the Denver Broncos suffered at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks didn’t have a lasting effect, think again.
DeMarcus Ware found a new home in less than 24 hours.
After committing $57 million over six years to cornerback Aqib Talib and $23 million over four years to safety T.J. Ward, the Denver Broncos were at it again on Wednesday, locking up free agent defensive end and recent Dallas Cowboys castoff DeMarcus Ware to a three-year, $30 million contract with $20 million guaranteed, per ESPN.
The 31-year-old Ware was released by the Cowboys on Tuesday following a 6.0-sack season, a career low.
The move gives the defending AFC Champions three newly acquired, high-profile defensive starters at a price tag of $110 million. It also gives the media and fans a popular answer to the question ‘Which team will win the Super Bowl in 2015?’
Speaking to LVH sports book assistant manager Jeff Sherman on Tuesday, the Broncos entered free agency at 7/1 to win next year’s championship, but nothing had changed in the wake of the signings.
