Chicago Bears wide receiver Devin Hester was the victim of an alleged battery Friday night at a casino.
Hester was slapped in the back of the head while he was in line for a cashier at Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, Ill., according to the Arlington Heights Daily Herald.
Daniel G. Rago, 52, of Mount Prospect, Ill., was arrested and charged with one misdemeanor count of battery. Hester notified security and Rago was detained.
“Hester was a perfect gentlemen through the whole thing,” Des Plaines police chief Jim Prandini said. “There was no argument between them beforehand. (Rago) had been drinking. Mr. Hester did not retaliate in any way, shape or form. He was extremely professional throughout and there was no problem.”
Rago, who was allegedly intoxicated, has a Dec. 1 court date and could face up a year in jail.
Hester surely wasn’t affected Sunday night. He had a 98-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, the 15th return touchdown of his career, and a 48-yard touchdown reception.
