Ole Miss all-purpose draft prospect Dexter McCluster is enjoying the draft process.

"I'm having fun," McCluster told National Football Post in a telephone interview today. "I'm excited about everything. It's like a fun job interview. Hopefully, it won't take long before Dexter McCluster gets his name called in the draft."

McCluster has conducted a private workout for the Cleveland Browns previously and worked out for the Jacksonville Jaguars today. He's scheduled to visit the Tennessee Titans later this month.

"I caught punts and ran pass routes for the Browns and I just finished up my workout with the Jaguars," McCluster said. "Both went well. Both were impressed by my character and what I did on the field. It's all about showing them what I can do and what I'm all about."

The elusive 5-foot-9, 172-pounder rushed for 1,995 career yards at Ole Miss with 130 receptions for 1,730 yards.

He generated 4,089 career all-purpose yards and is being evaluated at several positions, including running back, wide receiver and as a kick returner.

McCluster's Pro Day workout is set for Tuesday.

He said he's going to run the 40-yard dash again, but plans to stand on his other testing from the NFL scouting combine.

"I can't wait," McCluster said. "The weather is getting nice here in Mississippi. I can feel the love from this town."

He ran a 4.53 in the 40-yard dash at the combine, bench pressed 225 pounds 20 times and had a 37-inch vertical leap.

"At the combine, my start wasn't good at all," he said. "I stumbled at the five-yard line and that threw the whole race off. My field speed is great, so I wasn't too worried about it.

"I know my Pro Day time will be faster. I'm hoping to run low 4.4 or high 4.3s. I'm going to do the position drills at running back and wide receiver."

McCluster's versatility is earning him major points with NFL scouts.

"They love that I can play so many spots," McCluster said. "The most important thing is I can play special teams as well. That’s helping me that I line up out in the slot and running back and contribute on special teams.

"I've shown them over the last couple of workouts that I can catch punts and am comfortable doing that. I think that's going to help me. The main thing is to practice like you play."

McCluster has been getting advice about the draft process from former Ole Miss standout Mike Wallace, the Pittsburgh Steelers' wide receiver.

"We have kept in contact," McCluster said. "He tells me what to expect. It's just a big  job interview."
