Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver Dez Bryant says he's worthy of the big contract after catching 25 touchdowns over the past two seasons, the most in the NFL.
"Yeah, I deserve it," Bryant told ESPN Dallas. "I deserve it. I feel like I do. I put the work in, but I let that kind of stuff take care of itself. It is what it is. I let my agent talk about it and give me some feedback."
Bryant indicated that preliminary talks have taken place.
A deal could be in the offing prior to the season.
Bryant is due a $1.78 million base salary this season in the final year of his contract.
"I'm loyal to the squad," Bryant said. "I've always been. Me and my agent are going to talk about (hometown discount). This is big. This is life-changing. I've done everything asked of me, and we'll see what happens."
