It doesn't look like Tennessee Titans star running back Chris Johnson's wishes of a new contract are going to be granted.

No contract talks are taking place.

"Given the circumstances, I don't think there's the likelihood anything is going to happen,'' Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt told the Tennessean. "You're asking me definitely if he's not going to get (a new contract). I'm not making any definitive statements. I just think he's a pro and we expect him to honor his contract. Chris has always been a pro, and we expect that to continue.''

Why can't the Titans do a new deal?

Reinfeldt referenced the 30-percent rule and that Johnson is only two years into a five-year rookie deal as obstacles to adjusting the deal.

"There's limitations on what we can do,'' Reinfeldt said. "So it's definitely an issue.''

Johnson rushed for 2,006 yards and was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

He's set to make $550,000 this season.

Johnsojn's fans have started an online petition called "Pay CJ2K"

He has retweeted it to his followers.

Johnson has yet to skip anything mandatory, but continues to work out on his own in Florida.

"We have always been an organization that concerns itself with those that are here, not those that are not," Titans coach Jeff Fisher said. "Those things sort themselves out. I think he'll be in eventually.''
