The Miami Dolphins cut former New York Giants defensive tackle Marvin Austin,

Austin was signed by the Dolphins after working out for them as well as the Cincinnati Bengals, Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions.

The Dolphins signed Austin when defensive tackle Vaughn Martin was placed on injured reserve and nose tackle Paul Soliai is dealing with a knee injury.

Austin was drafted in the second round of the 2011 NFL draft out of North Carolina.

Austin was released by the Giants during the final major roster cutdown.

Austin had eight tackles last season in eight games.

He was sidelined for his rookie season with a torn pectoral muscle.
