Dolphins dump Dansby

Three years ago at this time, linebacker Karlos Dansby was one of the hottest players on the free agent market. The former Arizona Cardinal liked what he heard from the Dolphins and went on to ink a five-year deal to play football in Miami.

Three years later and Dansby is on his way out the door after watching his team successfully court a younger linebacker in Dannell Ellerbe.

Per Jeff Darlington of NFL.com, the Miami Dolphins have released Dansby, who still had two years left on his deal that carried a 2013 cap number of $8.575 million.

The 31-year-old is immediately free to sign with another organization. In three seasons with the Dolphins, Dansby recorded 331 tackles, six sacks and one interception in 46 regular season appearances.
