Although the 6-6 Miami Dolphins trail 6-6 Baltimore in the race for the final wild card spot in the AFC playoffs based on head-to-head competition, the Dolphins have a clearly easier schedule over the final four games of the season.
The Dolphins face only one team with a winning record over the final quarter of the season (9-3 New England on Dec. 15). Baltimore faces three teams will winning records (New England, 7-5 Detroit and 8-4 Cincinnati) over the final four games. In fact, those are the final three games of the season after the Ravens play Minnesota this week.
The Dolphins play at Pittsburgh (5-7) on Sunday, then face the Patriots at home, go to Buffalo (4-8) and finish the season at home against the New York Jets (5-7).
After Miami and Baltimore, Pittsburgh, the Jets, San Diego and Tennessee are tied at 5-7. Pittsburgh and San Diego each have three home games. Tennessee has victories over Pittsburgh, San Diego and the Jets.
