Miami Dolphins safety Jonathan Amaya was arrested early Monday morning for battery as he allegedly attempted to choke a taxi cab driver, reports the NBC affiliate in Miami.
The incident apparently took place around 4:30 a.m. in Miami Beach outside a nightclub, according to a police report. Amaya offered the cab driver $100 to take him to Weston, but allegedly Amaya became aggressive and the cab driver took him back to where he picked him up and gave the player back the $100.
At that point, Amaya was alleged to have began choking the driver, causing him to drive erratically. Two off-duty police officers working at the nightclub saw the driver and heard him exclaim, "This man is trying to kill me."
Amaya should be more careful. When then Dolphins receiver Chad Johnson was arrested on a domestic assault charge this summer, he was released shortly after by Coach Joe Philbin.
