Messam rushed for 1,057 yards for Edmonton last season. Terry McCormick
The Miami Dolphins have signed Canadian Football League star Jerome Messam to a contract, the club announced.
Messam, who had had some off-the-field issues in the CFL, got his act together last season for the Edmonton Eskimos, rushing for 1,057 yards and six touchdowns on 195 carries.
The Dolphins had their own 1,000-yard rusher in Reggie Bush, but would probably use the 6-3, 245-pound Messam as an inside runner so as not to subject Bush to so much pounding between the tackles.
