With rookie first-round defensive end Dion Jordan sidelined with a shoulder injury, the Miami Dolphins have signed defensive end Antwan Applewhite.

Applewhite has appeared in 48 NFL games with 17 starts while spending time with the San Diego Chargers and more recently with the Carolina Panthers.

During his six year NFL career, he has amassed 99 tackles, 6.5 sacks and three forced fumbles. He was originally signed by the Chargers as an undrafted free agent following the 2007 NFL draft.

Applewhite played collegiately at San Diego State and was a first-team All-MWC as junior and honorable mention All-MWC as sophomore before declaring for the NFL Draft following his junior season. He finished his career with the Aztecs with 126 tackles, 17 sacks and 22.5 tackles for loss.
