Donovan McNabb joined many former teammates on Saturday in Philadelphia for the retirement ceremony for Brian Dawkins, the longtime safety who announced an end to his illustrious career at the Eagles’ facility.
McNabb is not certain if his career is coming to an end and he told NFL.com he is weighing options right now. McNabb was released by the Minnesota Vikings in December and there are no known clubs pursuing him right now.
The cruel reality for most player in the NFL is they do not get the opportunity to leave on their own terms. Most players wind up heading into retirement – or another career – when the NFL decides they are done. That could ultimately be what McNabb faces in this career.
For a long time, McNabb was a terrific quarterback in the NFL. Those days were some time ago as his stops in Washington and Minnesota did not go well.
