Seahawks wide receiver suffers freak injury Brad Biggs
Talk about a tough break for Doug Baldwin.
The Seattle Seahawks wide receiver did something that is commonplace in professional hockey but awful hard to find in the NFL. Baldwin suffered two broken teeth when he dove for a ball and landed face first near the end of the loss Sunday in Arizona.
Two teeth? Yes. With a helmet, facemask and mouthguard in place Baldwin still managed to bust two top teeth and he bit through his lip.
“I bit through my lip," Baldwin said, according to Danny O’Neil of the Seattle Times. "All the way through it, broke both top teeth. When I roll over, you can see the blood on my shield on the inside of my helmet."
Consequently, Baldwin spent his day off on Tuesday undergoing more than four hours of work in the dentist’s chair – exactly how no one wants to spend their off day. He will have replacement teeth ready in a few weeks.
Baldwin should play Sunday when the Seahawks host the Dallas Cowboys. Hopefully, he doesn’t have any more crash landings.
