Eagles, Jackson strike a deal

Heading into the offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles knew they needed to address the secondary.

The Birds took a step in the right direction Wednesday afternoon, announcing a two-year agreement with free agent defensive back Marlin Jackson.

The former Michigan standout has battled injuries in each of the past two seasons, but brings versatility to a Philadelphia secondary that needs help at the safety position and could use more depth at cornerback. Jackson is familiar with both positions, having played cornerback and safety during his five years with the Indianapolis Colts.

The 26-year-old has made 32 starts in his five-year career, notching 306 tackles and four interceptions during that span.

One other thing Jackson brings to Philadelphia is something the city has never seen: a Super Bowl ring—which he won with the Colts during the 2006 season.
