From NFL.com:
The Philadelphia Eagles acquired LB Will Witherspoon from the St. Louis Rams just before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET trade deadline, a league source told NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora.
The Eagles give up rookie WR Brandon Gibson and a 2010 fifth-round draft pick for Witherspoon, an eight-year NFL veteran who has 682 tackles, 19 sacks and eight interceptions in his career. Gibson was Philadelphia’s sixth-round pick in April and had played in one game this season.
The Eagles needed linebacker help after starter Omar Gaither suffered a sprained a foot during last weekend’s loss to the Raiders. Veteran MLB Jeremiah Trotter has had mixed reviews in two starts since returning to Philadelphia. The Eagles lost Stewart Bradley, the original starter in the middle to open the season, to a season-ending injury during the preseason.
