Eagles almost certainly lose Jason Peters for season

Jason Peters suffered a freak injury when he re-ruptured his Achilles tendon, meaning that the left tackle is almost certainly lost for the 2012 season for the Philadelphia Eagles.

According to CSN Philadelphia, Peters was using a Roll-A-Bout – a small machine designed to help him get around on one leg – when it broke and his leg fell off. Per the station, Peters plans to sue the manufacturer.

It’s a significant loss for the Eagles as Peters, 30, is a five-time Pro Bowl performer. He was originally injured working out on his own this offseason. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, it is rare for an athlete to re-rupture the Achilles tendon.

Fortunately, the Eagles provided insurance when they signed Demetress Bell after Peters was originally injured.
