Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly is in no rush to declare a winner in the quarterback competition between Michael Vick and Nick Foles.
He'll make a decision before the season-opener.
“We’re going to pull the trigger before we game plan for the Washington Redskins,” Kelly said in a transcript provided by the Eagles. “We have to have a quarterback in place when we’re really getting ready and getting into the meat and potatoes of what our game plan is going to be. That quarterback will be named.”
During a loss to the New England Patriots, Vick connected with wide receiver DeSean Jackson for a 47-yard touchdown pass and finished with a pristine 158.3 quarterback rating on 4 of 5 accuracy for 94 yards.
Foles completed 5 of 6 passes for 43 yards, but fumbled once.
“I thought they both did a good job,” Kelly said afterward.
So, the competition continues between two players with vastly different styles of play.
Vick is a scrambler with a big arm. Foles is a classic pocket passer.
