Eagles rookie Burton catching attention from teams

Philadelphia Eagles rookie tight end Trey Burton is a versatile player who could command attention from NFL teams as a popular waiver claim if he doesn't make the final roster.

He's caught three passes for 55 yards.

The 6-foot-3, 235-pounder from the University of Florida went undrafted, signing with the Eagles in May.

The athletic 6-foot-2, 224-pounder played wide receiver, H-back, tight end, fullback and quarterback for the Gators.

Burton caught 38 passes for 445 yards and one touchdown last season.

He finished with 107 career receptions for 976 yards and four touchdowns.

He arrived at Florida as a dual-threat quarterback who caught 32 passes for 210 yards and a touchdown as a true freshman.

Burton had 153 carries for 720 career yards and 16 touchdowns, completing 11 of 17 passes for 103 yards, no touchdowns and an interception.

Burton ran the 40-yard dash in 4.62 seconds at the NFL scouting combine where he had a 30-inch vertical leap and a 9-4 broad jump.

Burton has drawn high marks for his athleticism and character.
