Eagles taking a look at veteran tight ends

The Philadelphia Eagles are in good shape when it comes to their top tight end as Brent Celek has returned healthy from hip surgery.

But the club appears to be intent on adding some veteran depth at the position. Free agent Visanthe Shiancoe is visiting the club’s training camp today and according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Jeremy Shockey will arrive on Wednesday.

Shiancoe was productive for the Minnesota Vikings and probably ran into a situation where he thought there would be more waiting for him in free agency. He’s been linked to the Seattle Seahawks. Shockey spent last season with the Carolina Panthers.

The Eagles have used Celek a lot and he is a preferred target of quarterback Michael Vick but traditionally the offense has not featured two pass-catching tight ends. We’ll see what direction this takes.
