Veteran free safety Ed Reed went unclaimed off waivers after being cut by the Houston Texans and is now a free agent.

He's been frequently linked to the New England Patriots and New York Jets, but has been ruled out by the Baltimore Ravens and Indianapolis Colts, among others.

The former Ravens star was signed to a three-year, $15 million during the offseason that included a $2 million signing bonus and $5 million in guaranteed money.

The 2004 NFL Defensive Player of the Year had offseason hip surgery and struggled in seven games played this season.

He recorded just 16 tackles, no interceptions, no pass deflections or forced fumbles this season and has frequently allowed big plays.
