Injury concerns might not be the only reason Alabama running back Eddie Lacy was pushed into the second round.

But it might explain why he lasted until the end of the second round when the Green Bay Packers selected him No. 61 overall. Toe fusion surgery has been explained as one contributing factor.

But the Packers now have a productive back with a strong background and Lacy vows to be ready to go in his rookie season.

From Day 1, I'm going to be ready to go,” Lacy said, according to Tyler Dunne of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

“I'm a bigger guy, a tough runner, a physical runner," Lacy said. “That's just natural. But I'm also shifty and I can make defenders miss and also break long runs. I just feel like I can do anything.”

We’ll see how he makes the transition. Lacy ran behind arguably the best offensive line in college football at Alabama. He was extremely productive. The Packers have help, though, having drafted UCLA’s Johnathan Franklin in the fourth round. It will be interesting to watch the young ball carriers develop.
