Elisha Cuthbert

EIGHT: Hollywood Delight- Well, we’ve all decided that there’s a very good reason we watch the TV show “24,” and it has nothing to do with Kiefer Sutherland. Say hello to Elisha Cuthbert — a great reason to watch prime time television.

SEVEN: Begging MVP- It seems that Shaun Alexander is looking — or pleading — for another chance to play in the NFL, saying that teams will “want somebody who can score some touchdowns and make things happen.” Well, sorry to break it to you, Shaun, but that’s the exact reason you aren’t playing anymore.

SIX: Trainer Visit- I guess this story is still newsworthy since the Vikings sent a trainer to visit Brett Favre for a second time. No word yet if Favre and his buddies from the Wrangler commercials worked out for the trainer, but I’ll make some calls.

FIVE: Hollywood Girlfriend- We weren’t down with the “bro-mance” between Lance Armstrong and Matthew McConaughey (not that anyone was), but we are down with McConaughey’s girlfriend, Miss Camila Alves. Yes, we like models here at the NFP.

Camila Alves

FOUR: Russell Leading- The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell has the edge right now over backup Jeff Garcia. So, a first-round QB with enough money to buy an entire city block has the “edge” over a 39-year-old journeyman quarterback — after mini-camp. Man, things are looking up in Oakland, huh?

THREE: Flacco’s Numbers- According to the New York Times, Joe Flacco showed a big improvement in the second half of the 2008 season — if we look at the numbers. Well, I am looking at the numbers, and I’m guessing that the games against the Steelers don’t count in this study, right?

TWO: Buddy System- According to the Dallas Morning News, Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware sat out so his buddy, Greg Ellis, could get some playing time, even hiding on the bench. That’s interesting because QB Tony Romo took it a step further to close out the season last year — doing the same thing on the field.

Rachel Bilson

ONE: Fantasy Babe- We do our homework when it comes to selecting the best babes for “Eight in the Box,” and after weeks of whining from NFP Fantasy guru Joe Fortenbaugh about his “pick,” we’ve begun to realize that “The O.C.” actually might have been a cool TV show worth watching, thanks to Rachel Bilson. Enjoy — and you’re welcome, Joe.

Sign up to play fantasy football with Drew Brees and the NFP. I’m off to my first NASCAR race tomorrow night to drink Bud Heavies … He gone.

Thanks for reminding me why I love Fridays so much at the NFP....

Elisha is the best so far.

Oh yeah, the Raiders are still a running joke in the NFL.

The Man-

Still not sure how I was "down" last week with Crawford, McCarthy, and Brooke Burke...

But, thanks for the comments...

I am with you on the babes today Matt.. as well as last week.

There is a reason that Crawford is worth millions, and it isn't for running a business.

WOW. Elisha takes the cake for the week...

Romo has become a tackling dummy for the media... win a game when it counts and it will change..

Raider fans... win a game, just one game that matters outside of a December throwaway game.

Matt,

I have an idea for the "Babe" posts you do on Friday. Every once in a while, take it old-school by showing pics of classic Babes from the past. I think that would be a great way to commemerate beatiful women of all eras.

Keep up the great work.

Good call on Alves. Cheap shot at Romo. He threw for 252 yards and 2 TDs against Baltimore and 244 yards and 2 TDs against Giants in December. He, along with the rest of the team, probably wanted to hide in Philly though... Have fun at the hotel there Greg.

Terry-

Not a bad idea at all... Thought about that other day with some of the best from the past... Might give it a try next week.

Thanks for the comments.

Hiding from coaches so they'd have to sub his pal in, what an embarrassment for the Dallas coaches and DeMarcus Ware. I find this astonishing.

Gotta go with Camila today.... Sure, she is the underdog, but I still think she takes the ribbon for today...

Oh yeah, Bear go 12-4.
