From Jay Glazer of FoxSports.com:
APEli Manning
The Manning family fortune is about to grow again.
The Giants and Super Bowl-winning quarterback Eli Manning are on the verge of completing a blockbuster six-year contract extension, FOXSports.com has learned.
The two sides are still tweaking some details of the deal. But the team is hoping to have the deal done by today, barring any major setbacks, a team source says.
Manning, who was drafted first overall in 2004, is entering the last year of his rookie deal and the new agreement will tack six additional years and $97.5 million onto this season, with $35 million guaranteed.
yeah what a joke. Eli gets by on name, the fact that he's in NYGiant blue, and the fact that he won a Superbowl (because of his defensive line and a miracle catch). he's going to struggle mightily this year with their weak receivers.
$15M per year for Eli? No way. He's a good QB, but he's barely top 10. He'll be back to his under 58% completion rate and 6.5 ypa without Plax and Amani.

Wow! Not the worst contract move this offseason (that award goes to the Bills for signing TO), but really? That's a lot to play for a guy outside the top ten at his position.
Just for arguments sake: Brady, P. Manning, Rivers, Brees, Warner, McNabb, Hasselbeck, Rodgers, Roethlisberger, Pennington are my top 10 (not in specific order).
I'd put Eli somewhere around Cassel and Cutler, with the expectation that Cassel and Cutler will develop, and that Eli has already hit his ceiling. Heck, he might be behind Kyle Orton on the list of players I'd want to build a team around.
