Linebacker out with torn pectoral muscle Aaron Wilson
Denver Broncos star outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil confirmed that he'll be placed on injured reserve, ending his season.
Dumervil tore his pectoral muscle during training camp.
"TO ALL MY FANS, THANKS FOR THE ALL THE SUPPORT & KIND WORDS BUT THIS SEASON FOR ME IS OVER DUE TO MY INJURY THAT OCCUR DURING TRAINING CAMP," Dumervil wrote on his Twitter account. "THE BRONCOS HAVE A GREAT RECOVERY PLAN FOR ME TO BE BACK 100% & MORE! NOW ITS TIME TO ENCOURAGE AND SUPPORT THE BRONCOS TO THE MAXIMUM!"
Initially, the Broncos had entertained the idea of bringing Dumervil back late in the season.
However, they have now backed off that plan.
Dumervil led the NFL with 17 sacks last season.
He signed a five-year, $58.3 million contract extension before training camp.
